About Us

Auctioneer and owner, John Stark is a stay-at-home-dad raising his six year old son who attends a local elementary school.  His wife is Director of Supply Chain at Kraft Foods.  Mr. Stark has been doing freelance online auctions and consignment for several years as a part-time job while raising his son. Over this time he has learned what sells well online, what doesn’t and the best online sites to post specific types of items. With this experience, and seeing first-hand the financial crunch our public schools are in, Mr. Stark launched Consignment For Schools. “It really is a no-brainer for me,” says Mr. Stark.  “I have always been one to give back to the community and feel that our local schools need our help now more than ever! Combining my 15 years of online sales and marketing experience with this business is a win-win-win for me, our clients and our schools. Plus, I can be flexible with my work schedule so I can be with my son as he is growing up. I guess it is more like a win-win-win-win.  I am a very fortunate man.”

Mr. Stark comes from an extensive retail management, sales and operations background.  He has managed several large, high-volume retail sales floor that focused on quality product placement, presentation and sales. 

Dating back to 1993, Mr. Stark embraced the new online medium and was one of the first to use the Internet for sales, marketing and promotion.  As as member of the Board of Directors for the San Francisco Chapter of the Sales and Marketing Executives International, Mr. Stark introduced the Internet to sales and marketing executives and educated them on the impact this new medium would have on their future business.

Mr. Stark took that online expertise into the Asia-Pacific region and for several years brought companies in the United States to the region to tap into the exploding business-to-business and business-to-consumer market opportunity. He brought companies from different cultures and business practices together to complete large business deals using the newest online technologies. His offices within the region included Hong Kong, China, Makati, Philippines as well as Sydney, Australia.

Today, as well as being a world-class father, Mr. Stark is an Ironman (140.6) distance triathlete, ultra-marathon runner, Special Olympics volunteer and technology tinkerer.

Mr. Stark has a B. S. in Marketing Management from California State University, Hayward and has also completed MBA courses in marketing and executive management from the University of California, Berkeley.
